THE STUDENT IS THE CANVAS, CREATIVITY IS THE MEDIUM, AND CURRICULUM IS THE TOOL!
Man has always sought ways to convey their experiences and the communication manifests through semiotics. These skills are developed and changed over time as we experience the world around us. Globalization is dramatically affecting the way we see the world. The realization that each culture perceives the world in different ways is a guide to the comprehension of global communication.
As an educator in the arts I am devoted to the visual vocabulary. I teach students how to read and interpret the signs of the visual world through thematic exploration of art history, art criticism, art production, aesthetics, and aesthetic inquiry. Sustained practice in all forms of visual semiotics promotes mastery in skills and concept learning.
As long as I can remember I have had an extreme fascination with culture. Guided by my fascination, my feet followed a path to Hawai’i where I lived for 10 years. While there I learned the language and history; I experienced the melting pot of cultures that nurtured me in many ways. I am excited to be having the same experience in Italy.
